La Palenquera: A Fashion Story Inspired by the Afro-Colombian Community

La Palenquera is one of my favorite pieces I did pre-MA degree. I often look back at alot of my old work and think that things could be different (as we all do as creatives I’m sure), but this concept is one that I’m really proud of. My only fault is that I wish I was more confident in my photography at this time to photograph the shoot myself, but I’m proud of the outcome and the team. I love the location and they styling; with the jewelry being handmade by me, and the outfit being designed and draped by me as well. This was shot in Dart Park, Grand Cayman in 2022, by my cousin Ileann with makeup by Sandra Milanes and modelled by Ariana Bignal.
